區加培神父出生在墨西哥,是墨西哥外方傳教會會士。他於1972年被祝聖為神父,三年後，也就是於1975年被派往香港,作為第一批，在港服務的墨西哥外方傳教會會士。在1985年,區加培神父被召回墨西哥,在修會與修生們一同工作，直到2001年年底才重回香港服務。
Father Gabriel Altamirano Ortega uses both his father’s family surname, Altamirano, and his mother’s family surname, Ortega. He was born in Mexico and is a member of the Guadalupe Missioners, the Foreign Mission Society of Mexico. He was ordained as a priest in 1972 and sent to Hong Kong three years later in 1975 as part of the first group of Guadalupe Missioners to serve in that location.
In 1985, Father Gabriel was called back to Mexico where he worked with seminarians, some of whom are now his colleagues at the parish. He did not return to Hong Kong until the end of 2001.
Father Gabriel expresses gratitude to the Lord for the opportunity to become part of the parish and thanks the parish council and various parish groups for the warm welcome they accorded him. With the sure help of the Lord, he hopes to integrate into the parish community and journey with the congregation as they follow Him.
